Megan Mollins

Megan Mollins is a self-defined music enthusiast with a passion for music therapy. She is excited to be a part of the Singing Sands Music Therapy team!

Megan obtained her Bachelor of Music Therapy from Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. During her time at Acadia, she received training working with children and young adults with developmental delays, and seniors in long-term care. Following her graduation in 2015, Megan moved to Calgary, Alberta to complete her internship at the Alberta Children’s Hospital, where she was rewarded with the experience of working in inpatient settings with children and youth with various medical diagnoses. After completing her internship, Megan returned to the east coast, acquired her accreditation, and began her journey as a clinician. She gained more experience working with children, youth, and in long term care homes while living in Fredericton, New Brunswick before moving back to her beautiful homeplace: Prince Edward Island in May 2019.

Megan is classically trained in piano, and enjoys playing a variety of other instruments, including guitar, voice, drums/percussion, and flute. She loves the challenge of learning how to play instruments independently – Her next project is learning how to play mandolin and ukulele.

In her spare time, you can catch Megan spending time with family, drawing or painting, exploring the newest video game online, or socializing with friends at the local coffee shop.

“As a 71 year old living in Charlottetown who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in early July 2017, I was devastated. Knowing nothing about the disease, I got in touch with Parkinson’s Support Group. That’s when I was put in touch with Shona. I was having trouble with my voice being very low and from the first day she made me and everyone around her feel comfortable in the group called Treble Tremors.

We start with light exercise, walking, movement, stretching, facial movements. Then we do scales and singing. Great emotional support with her and the group, as well as social time. I encourage everyone with voice problems or just want to get help in speaking or voice of any sort, she made a big difference to myself. I’m very glad to have a person of her talent. I know she works with a lot of seniors on PD. Also thankful for helping me overcome the problems I had. Love going to groups.”
